This COVID-19 virus is truly a unique period of time in our history. It has resulted in many people struggling to feel connected to their church, friends, family, and communities. So, I thought I would start a forum of ideas of how to encourage each other while still practicing social distance.
One of the ways my family and I have been trying to help others who are feeling isolated is by making homemade play dough with some essentials oil in it. We then drop it off at their doorsteps in paper bags at the homes of families with preschoolers from our church. We have really enjoyed receiving pictures of the smiling kids with the play dough.
What a wonderful initiative. We are truly blessed (From the Netherlands)
Something our church started doing daily (weekdays) is a 7:00 AM and 8:00PM pray meetings over video conferencing. I have decided to attend the morning prayer meetings and starting your day off with other believers in prayer is truly wonderful and rewarding! It is so wonderful that I hope we will continue having these prayer meetings even after the 'lockdown'! I used to doubt that, thanks to our (good and bad) individualistic society that 'getting together regularly' like mentioned in Acts 2 was an impossible feet. I now know it is very possible (thanks to video conferencing)!
I'm am even thinking of having 'lunch' over video conferencing. I'll try that later this week.
I have found doing Small Group via video conferencing to be really neat and helpful too.
