The Watchers... Really???

C'mon, guys, do some research! The Watchers of the Book of Enoch ARE THE FALLEN ANGELS. Michael was NEVER a Watcher.

It was the so-called Watchers, an echelon of angels -- called the Bene-Elohim in Genesis (Hebrew) --sent by God to teach Mankind how to survive in a fallen world. But they rebelled against the Lord, and corrupted all of creation, according to Genesis 11, resulting in the worldwide flood of Noah. They were/are EVIL!

It verges on blasphemy to call that which is good by such a darkness-tinged title. Why not call it "The Guardians," for crying out loud??

Why on earth would you confuse the terminology this way? This is just such a painful mistake. Wow.

I know your comment is from a while ago but I just saw it. Didn't only some of the angels rebel? At least that is what I understand happened (based on the Book of Enoch).

Michael, it is true that not all Watchers rebelled, but certainly the archangel Michael did not, per scripture. There is NOTHING in the Word to suggest that angels of any echelon, once they've rebelled, can return to a standing of grace with the Lord. We humans have a savior; the angels, per scripture, do not. And the phrase The Watchers is associated with those who fell, rebelled, and perverted Mankind; the term guardian is one associated with those angels given charge over us as guards. It's an understandable mistake, in an informal conversation, among lay people... But the planning and research that go into a TV show cannot explain this error. It appears intentional, hence not a slight or a mistake. It leads me to ask, Why?

I believe it is a direct result of the spirit of the antichrist and influence that this film is promoted/suppoted.
I watched the first 10 min of the first episode, and felt that it was along the lines of deliberate misleading, so I thank you for sharing a theological basis along with your educated view on this topic.

But, in Daniel 4, the punishment of the proud king Nebuchadnezzar is decided, communicated and executed through Holly Watchers. In the Hebrew Bible it is a holy "ir", a supervisor in the king's dream/vision. There is nothing properly ominous or negative in the biblical term, to force us to only use for the bad, fallen, corrupt and rebellious sons of god. Also, in Enoch, the 7 holy archangels that execute judgment against Azazel and his 200 fallen friends are also called watchers. (i.e. 1 Enoch XXI:5, Uriel, a watcher and holy one).
I think Rick's objection is mute, insufficiently informed and based on niche culture bias.
