Andrea,
What a beautiful request! To be deliberate and purposeful! Amen! That is the only way to journey with Christ properly. Not long ago, God showed me the importance of stringing habits together. Meaning, commit to doing something new right after you do something that is already a habit. In my case, contrary to my nature, I started making my bed every morning. Then, while making my bed, I pray to God and dedicate my day to Him and ask that I will love my neighbors well, that I will see opportunities to be a good neighbor, and be a good steward of His resources. Then, more recently, I desired to scribe Psalm 119. I started scrubbing a few days in a row and then I stopped. I contemplated why I stopped scribing, but I was determined to start again, so I decided to scribe immediately after making my bed. As such, I created a new habit by linking it to a pre-existing habit. A couple of months later, I finished scribing Psalm 119 and have now started scribing Proverbs. After scribing for a few months now, I feel scribing is a new habit and something feels 'off' when I miss doing it. Looking back, I see that 'being purposeful' was key to how I started scribing.
Another key thing is asking 'how do I love my neighbor well?' Recently I learned it is more about me listening than trying to persuade. Listening is something I am still learning to do, but I am seeing the rewards of doing that.
Stay strong in Him and keep the faith, sister. He is always with us!
