Eyewitness Bible: One-Hit Wonders
Eyewitness Bible: One-Hit Wonders Ep6 - Future Prophet
Season 1, Episode 6 • Drama
Agabus prophesies that Paul will be incarcerated for the sake of Jesus
The prophet Agabus was introduced in Acts 11:27-30. In those verses, he predicted a world-wide famine that could have devastating effects on poor churches like the one in Jerusalem. Because of his prophecy, the wealthier church in Antioch sent funds to the churches in Jerusalem and Judea to help them survive.
The only other time Agabus is mentioned in scripture is in Acts 21:10-15. Paul is ending his Third Missionary Journey and is at the house of Philip the evangelist in Caesarea. Paul is accompanied by several men providing spiritual, emotional, and physical support, as they are carrying a large donation to the church in Jerusalem from the churches in Greece and Macedonia. Luke, the writer of Acts, is in the group as can be ascertained by his use of the word “we.”
Acts 11:27-30, 21:10-15
