Following in the Footsteps of the Swiss Reformation
The Protestant Reformation • 37m
This documentary takes us to the fascinating places where the Reformation took place in Switzerland, a nation where two major streams of Protestantism were born.
We’ll explore Zurich where Huldrych Zwingli ignited the Swiss reformation in the beautiful Grossmünster Church. We’ll see the town hall where Zwingli took part in his famous disputations. And along the way we’ll learn how two of Zwingli’s closest followers broke away from the reformer to start the Anabaptist movement.
We’ll visit the places where Anabaptists worshipped in secret and the places where they faced martyrdom for what some considered their radical beliefs.
We’ll also journey to sites in the Swiss countryside and in Basel, Muenster, Bern and finally, Geneva, where John Calvin solidified and extended the Reformed movement.
Following in the Footsteps of the Swiss Reformation brings history to life while featuring the beauty of Switzerland’s natural landscapes and architecture.
